چکیده

The methods for the interpretation of aerial images and maps are usually different although both describe the same landscape. The presented work shows that regarding remote sensing data and maps as different kinds of sensors allows a similar approach for both in the domain of landscape interpretation. The prior knowledge about the landscape objects is represented explicitly by semantic nets. Based on the semantics of the network language a problem independent set of rules controls the scene interpretation. Important is that the scene analysis employs a partial interpretation derived from a Digital Landscape Model (ATKIS DLM 25/1). This partial interpretation is used to generate an initial scene description. Consecutively the scene description is verified in aerial images and maps. Interpretation proceeds iteratively mixing top-down and bottom-up strategies. This paper shows the representation of the knowledge in several semantic layers, the strategies of interpretation, and the methods to interprete aerial images and maps using a DLM as partial interpretation.

Automatic Interpretation of UltraCam Imagery by Combination of Support Vector Machine and Knowledge-based Systems

With the development of digital sensors, an increasing number of high-resolution images are available. Interpretation of these images is not possible manually, which necessitates seeking for practical, fast and automatic solutions to solve the environmental and location-based management problems. The land cover classification using high-resolution imagery is a difficult process because of the c...

Extended Abstract Background and objectives: Google Earth images are a valuable resource for understanding and studying the natural area's ecology due to their high spatial resolution. Considering that these images have been available for many years, in our country, these valuable data have not been used enough, especially in order to study vegetation and optimal natural areas management. So, ...

Model of landslide hazard zonation and its effective factors using quantitative geomorphology (Case Study: Sanich region, Yazd)

Landslide can be considered as one of the important challenges of nature that affects natural areas and human societies. Several factors such as physical characteristics of the watershed, geology, soil structure, meteorology and hydrology are the most important environmental factors affecting in the landslide event. In order to reduce damage, landslide zoning have significant role in management...

Land use changes detection and spatial distribution using digital and satellite data, case study: Farim drainage basin, Northern of Iran

Land use change may influence many natural phenomena and ecological processes, including runoff, soil erosion, sedimentation and soil conditions. Decreasing of forest area in the North of Iran is one of the critical problems in recent years. The aims of this study are to detect land use changes between 1967 to 2002 using satellite images of Land Sat 7 ETM+ (2002), aerial photos and digital topo...
